Bidding farewell to a loved one is never easy.
“Death twitches my ear; 'Live,' he says... 'I'm coming.” ~ Virgil ~
Bidding farewell to a loved one is never easy. However, as we undertook this shoot for the laying to rest of Mr. Moses Sang, we quickly realized this was no ordinary funeral, for no ordinary man. It was a celebration of life.
The burial of Mr. Sang was in Kericho. We drove a day earlier in oreder to prepare adequately.
In attendance were his family and close friends and even prominent people in the government. Clearly, Mr. Sang had had a good life and had done great things for all these people to cherish him. The burial of Mr. Sang was in Kericho.
On the day of the shoot, everything was smooth and we did not experience any hitches technically. However, the ground where the funeral service was taking place was a bit bumpy hence, we had to get creative with how we placed our tripods and also moving around so as to avoid tipping over.
All in all, the shoot went well and I was pleased with my work. I was able to capture raw emotions from people as they mourned and celebrated this great man’s work in equal measure. Fare thee well Mr. Sang, Rest.
